Where, Oh where did my memory go?!
Lately I have had problems remembering things. And when I say lately, I mean since my third child. Now some people would say that it was ‘pregnancy brain,’ but that cannot possibly be the case anymore. I mean you can only hide behind that excuse for so long and it has been almost ten months since I was pregnant. Others say sleep deprivation, which could very well be true, but you think I would have gotten used to it by now.
Let me give you some examples….I went to the grocery store to get paper plates, tea bags and something else, I don’t recall at the moment, but I came back with a few things that were on clearance and coffee filters! Sometimes my days seem to run together and I can’t recall when something happened or on which day. I know that this happens to other moms, I have a few friends that relate to this. Most of the time it seems completely out of character for me, I don’t forget that I had already written a check to pay that bill, or not turn in my paperwork on time, these are things that have happened in the recent months that I can’t get a handle on. Sometimes I have a really hard time with it too, because this just isn’t like me.
Does this happen to all of us, are we destined to keep losing brain cells, does it depend on the number of children we have, because I’ve met mothers that seem to have it all together. So maybe it’s just a select few of us that seem like we are only functioning with half a brain. If so, I am calling to all of you out there that are missing her keys right this very second when it’s time to take the children to soccer practice, I am giving a shout out to those of you who are rushing to bake cupcakes for a party one of the kids is having at school that you’ve known about for two weeks but didn’t put it on your list of things to do (I have one of those lists too, I might not survive without it). You are not the only ones, and it is not abnormal, I am here for all of you!!! And may God help us remember the things we are forgetting. Amen.
